Patrick McDermott is a photographer with a passion for documentary storytelling and adventure sports. Raised in Washington, D.C., he went on to earn a B.A. from Colgate University in Marine-Freshwater Science and Fine Art & Art History. In 2008 he spent six months as an intern photographer at United Press International covering the 2008 Presidential election and the Washington, D.C. political circuit, including the White House and U.S. Capitol.

At the beginning of 2009 he moved to Southern California to pursue a degree in Visual Journalism at Brooks Institute. He recently covered the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, and was accepted to the 2010 Eddie Adams Workshop.

Over the years his travels have taken him around the world, from the high Himalayas to the Islands of Hawaii. His work has been featured in the country’s leading news publications, including Sports Illustrated and The Washington Times. His clients include Corbis Images and United Press International.
